Memorecks did it again (2)

Can’t not post this, Memorecks did it again with this awesome new instrumental..

Hypnotic sounds with a whole bunch of awesome samples and wicked laser sounds, enjoy…

Girl Talk, All Day long

Allow me to explain, before you get the wrong idea.

Some of you might remember Girl Talk from one of my last post. He’s the mash up musician – and sampling genius – making strange, yet awesome combinations. Whether it’s Pop, Hip-hop, Rock or Rap, he makes it work. And now there’s some good news, 5 days ago he released his new album, called All Day. Even better for all those broke and non-iTunes using people among you.. it’s totally FREE.. So there’s only two things left for you to do: 1 Download the album, 2 check AllSamples to see the names of the songs used in his mash ups..

Check it out and enjoy the freshness!

Animated?

Can’t say I love all the tracks used in this next music video, mixed by Girl Talk. I am however crazy about the tons of animated GIFS used in the video made by the famous Evan Roth. The track is called “Cache rules everything around me” (got to love that pun) and features mostly annoying but always funny GIFS which include dancing babies, crazy presidents and even a girl getting punched below the belt. If you’re in for a laugh, check it out below. Enjoy! Greetings from Barcelona

Rollercoaster rhymes

Rapper Evidence released a new music video a few days ago, he did so while we all wait furiously for his next album “Cats & Dogs”. This track is called “To Be Continued…” and was produced by Sid Roams (Mr. Slow Flow & Solitary Confinement) and features cuts by DJ Revolution. And as you’d expect from a member of Hip-hop’s finest Dilated Peoples, it’s a masterpiece. The video was directed by Jason Goldwatch of Decon Creative Group and the original part about the video is that he recorded Evidence rapping in the video while on a roller coaster. For the deejays, beatmakers and producers out there, there’s a remix contest organised by his label (Rhymesayers) so check that out as well. But first, sit back and enjoy some heavy rhymes..

Your Summer Song

Exile - who threw a 12″ inch into my hands at Dourfestival last year – has now made a remix of “Your Summer Song” which was on his last album called Radio. For this wonderful remix, he invited the lovely J. Mitchell onto the track. It ads a wonderful vibe to the track, I’m loving the video as well. So head outside, turn the volume open and enjoy this wonderful piece of music.

Sample vs. Song

This one you all know, even if you think you don’t know, the sample of this song is one we’ve all heard a million times.

For this post I’ve chosen for Boney M‘s most famous track “Sunny“, we’ve all heard it, it’s one that truly exudes summer. Boney M’s never been a favorite of mine, their greatest hits like “Rivers of Babylon” and “Ma Baker” are more likely to be played in a retirement home than at a funky summerparty.. But still, they’ve made some great disco tracks back in the seventies.

The artist that took the sample, won’t ring a bell, unless you’re into gossip, then you’ll know he had a fling with Amy Winehouse.. I’m talking about Mark Ronson, a English producer who made his first album back in 2003 with a lot of hiphop and R&B artists (e.g. Sean Paul, Nate Dogg, Mos Def, Q-Tip and  M.O.P.) Mark Ronson invited Nate Dogg, Trife the God, Saigon and Ghostface Killah for the track “Ooh Wee“. The sample wasn’t masked in any way, but that doesn’t bring the track down for me, it’s a great sample, why cut it up or ruin it with filters? So go ahead, vote for your favorite, again, I can’t make up my mind about this one. I love the original, it’s summery and the tune is highly addictive, but throwing in some emcees and banging beats never hurt anybody… Vote and Enjoy!

Slugabed in your face

Certainly worth mentioning these super-awesome tracks from Slugabed‘s                                       “Ultra Heat Treated” E.P. and an awesome remix by the same Brighton based DJ and producer. Slugabed mainly makes Dubstep and Hiphop crossovers, the first two videos down here are my favorites of his first E.P. released on the Planet Mu label. Both tracks have been in heavy rotation on my 1′s and 2′s, so I have to recommend them to you.

.

The third video/track is a remix from Pharoahe Monch’s most popular song “Simon Says“.   I must warn you though, beatwise the track isn’t anything like the original, you might recognize a slowed down version of the sample, but hey, the lyrics fit perfectly on those trippy rhythms. Enjoy!

Anybody up for some Herbal Tea?

Smooth bass and even smoother flows, got to love it.

Herbal T, from the duo Wax and Herbal T, has been giving you those smooth flows for a long time now, you may remember him from the international jam session. Yesterday he featured in a new track by Dumbfoundead and Wax with their group Clockwise. It’s a good track, but it failed to live up to my expectations, but Herbal T’s verse takes the track and raises its level. If you want to check it out, it’s called “professional rap“.

Something a little older, but much cooler, is a track that Herbal T made, using only his bass guitar and his voice. Smoothness for your ears, that’s all that needs to be said about this one. Enjoy!

Original vs Remix

My all-time favorite remix is one by J Dilla, he took Without You – a slow and laidback song/ballad – and turned it into a super smooth banger.

Lucy Pearl is an awesome group often overlooked, they bring Soulful R&B, two members of the group should ring a bell, Raphael Saadiq and Ali Shaheed Muhammad (from A Tribe Called Quest). It’s hard for me again to decide between these two, so you tell me, do you like a smooth ballad or a banging Dilla-remix? Enjoy!

PS: I didn’t put the Dwele remix on here, because I just don’t feel that one..

Diversidad Experience: The new single

So the first single from the album got dropped today, it’s awesome. It lives up to the high expectations I had for this one, the beat is a masterpiece and all the emcees together with the Mariama en Cutkiller form a great total.  Especially Melodee drops a bomb as soon as she starts flowing, next to her I love Curse’s flow and rhymes a lot too. I’d say, check it out and download the single below or click the logo to go to the site and download it there.

Enjoy the holidays, cause mine just started a few hours ago.
