Ten Seconds is the new planking

I think I can speak for all of us if I say that we’ve all had it with planking and all its variations. Therefore I thought I’d introduce a less annoying and more beautiful version of it.

Alma Haser used to play Hide and Seek with her brother when she was younger. A little twist to the game was the fact that they mostly hid in places where they were pretty much still visible. This inspired her to make the serie ‘Ten Seconds’, consisting of images and videos who show just that. So head on below for a bunch of images and videos showing people who suck at hiding. Enjoy!

Black Mamba

A post about snakes, but have no fear, no bad acting done by Samuel L. Jackson in this blogpost.

One of my favourite directors has to be Robert Rodriguez, a true genius and maker of Sin City, Grindhouse: Planet Terror and of course Machete (the movie & the trailer). Apart from that, when it gets to advertising about sports, Adidas is pretty awesome, but all hands down for Nike, bringing creativity, awesome imagery and  humor in every ad.  Their latest ad is a prime example of that, directed by Rodriguez and featuring Basketball legend Kobe Bryant, action hero/actor Bruce Willis amongst others.

I’ll say no more about the plot, except for this, one person I really can’t stand, dies in this short film. Check it out and enjoy!

Read my lips

Valentine’s Day has passed once again, both lovers and those single or broken-hearted have went trough a day full of emotion. I reckon that thousands of lips have touched, but I’ll bet you that none of those were as beautifully decorated as those done by Viridis Somnio, an American photographer and lovely artist on DeviantArt. The serie has been given the catchy name “Animal-ipstick” and what you see is what you get, awesome and especially funny lips decorated with colourful lipstick. So check out the gallery below and enjoy.

Next Level: Fonts (Part One)

A few years ago I really didn’t care about fonts and I knew nothing about the awesome ones (Helvetica, Zegoe, Raleway)  and used all the worst ones (yes, I’m talking about you, ComicSans). But over the years I’ve become kind of a font geek and typography has started to intrigue me. But opposed to those I’d normally use, these are, well, over the top, but more than that, they’re amazing. So in the next 4 posts I’ll be showing you some of the greatest – creative- fonts and one way to make your own real easy, so stay tuned. This is part One.

Estonia houses a lot of creative artists, like I showed you before, two other creative geniuses are Vladimir & Maksim Loginov. Back in 2008 they founded HMF, which stands for HandMadeFont. The company name explains it all, they’re specialized in developing unique, untraditional fonts. The fonts are created from everything that surrounds them. They’re catalog is amazing, fonts made from caviar, bread, fruit, chocolate,  lightpainted, sewed, … Truly amazing. Check it out and enjoy. For the designers among us, check out the site, the prices are okay and I think they’d be well worth it.

Get Grossed Out!

Check out this nice site, where you can edit pictures and add the craziest stuff to them.. The site is called Gross Out! and was made by The Black Axe, one of the cooler design companies out there. The project was made for Crispy Tees, who have – I must admit- some pretty cool shirts. Check everything out and be sure to have some fun with your old pictures, cause some of this stuff just can’t be found within Photoshop.

Rock around the clock

If you’re a vinyl collector, enthusiast or just somebody who loves music, then you might think that this art destroys the original art, but consider that there’s a lot of bad music that doesn’t have to be preserved on vinyl.

Let me show you what I’m talking about, Pavel Sidorenko is an Estonian designer, from Tallinn, who creates functional, yet playful products. One of his products is a set of clocks, made from old vinyl records, something a lot of people have already tried I’m sure. But the fun thing about his approach is that he sculpted the records into completely different figures by using a laser cutter. I think it looks great, so check it out below, enjoy!

I want your garbage!

I stumbled upon this amazing Parisian artist called Bernard Pras.

Pras takes everything he can find from garbage to scrap, and uses it to replicate famous and infamous paintings. It’s an inspiring concept and I must say that I’m quite impressed with the accuracy of the depiction of paintings by Dali, Ensor, Munch, Warhol, Monet and many others.  But other than paintings, he has a whole bunch of cartoon heroes (or graphic novels for the nitwits), statues and other stuff too. He’s been very busy, so be sure to check out his website, since it contains works made by him which date back to 1997. But meanwhile, enjoy a few of his masterpieces in the slideshow below. Enjoy!

Next Level: Arts & Crafts (part three)

The last of three.

Mundo de Papel, or World of Paper, is an advertisement spot made by CRU DE LADIES, who made the clip for BBDO Mexico. The ad itself is about Scribe, a brand of notepads, it’s a nice clip, check out if you like it as well.. Enjoy!

Next Level: Arts & Crafts (part two)

Just like yesterday’s artist, Chris Gilmour uses nothing but cardboard for his artwork.

But to be fair, he’s the master here, his lifesized models have seen more countries than the average tourist. The detail put into the models is mind-boggling, be sure to take a good look at the bicycle, it takes a lot of experience to be able to pull that off. My favorite here has to be the Hotrod, not the most difficult one I guess, but it looks smooth as hell though.

So check out the slideshow below and enjoy!

Also, be sure to check back tomorrow for the last cardboard artwork..

Next Level: Arts & Crafts (part one)

We all remember drawing and crafting from back when we were little kids, making stuff out of cardboard in kindergarten.

Some people never stopped doing it, some of them because they childish, others because they had talent. Today I’d like to share some of those people and their work with you.

The first artist is Luise Valdes, better known as Don Lucho, he’s from Chile and as he might not be well known, his artworks are pretty cool. A car, a plane and even a house made of paper and cardboard.

so go ahead and check out the slideshow, the second of 3 cardboard artists will be featured here tomorrow, so be sure to check back, Enjoy!
